Among one of the events that NOVA is organising on a yearly basis is the “3rd year PhD weekend”, which is an event intended to prepare PhD students for their career after receiving their PhD. The workshop covers both academic and non-academic careers, and offers workshops on presentation skills, on what companies are looking for when hiring a new employee with a PhD, and a presentation with advice on postdoc applications and building an academic career. The weekend ends with presentations and interactions with astronomy alumni with careers outside astronomy. In past years these workshops and sessions were an eye-opener for many PhD students.

We are happy to announce that this year the NOVA 3rd year PhD weekend will take place in Van der Valk Hotel Almere on a Friday 24 and Saturday 25 May 2024, well in advance of fellowship deadlines. The PhD weekend consist of two days workshops, training and discussions as well as speed dating with alumni. Lunch and dinner are included (all paid by NOVA). Stay in the Van der Valk Hotel will be paid by your Institute. NOVA has made a block booking until April 24.

Note that all rooms are for two or three persons. When you already have roommate(s) you can fill in their name(s) on the registration form.

Also note that cancellation of your registration is possible until 24 April. Failure to cancel or late cancellation without a valid reason will result in a hotel charges.
