Building the future of astronomical instrumentation
Win one of two exclusive NOVA LEGO telescope models
Astronomers often think in orders of magnitude. Engineers, on the other hand, like exact numbers. Either way, this is your chance to put your estimating skills to the test.
NOVA is giving away one LEGO model of the ELT and one LEGO model of the VLT. The participant(s) whose estimate comes closest to the actual number of bricks in each model will win. The competition closes at 12:00 on Thursday July 9th. The winners will be announced at 13:45 that same day in the NL Pavilion (or contacted via email).
The building instructions for both models will be released at a later date (not immediately after the conference). If you would like to receive the instructions and a parts list to order the required LEGO bricks, simply leave your contact details below. You are welcome to skip the estimation challenge if you are only interested in being notified when the models become available.
Both models were custom-designed at the same scale by Frans Snik (NOVA) and will not be commercially available.
At NOVA we are huge LEGO fans. These models, as well as other projects based on LEGO bricks we have done in the past, are intended as tribute to their inspiring engineering capabilities offered by LEGO bricks. The models presented here are not officially endorsed by LEGO and are not a commercial product.
We will only use your personal details for this prize draw, and providing the brick procurement and building instructions. They will be deleted directly afterwards.
